Sauka Superfoods is a Tanzanian- American company based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. When we established Sauka Superfoods in 2020, we were primarily dealing with the exportation of wild crafted Sea Moss, but as we began to explore various regions around the country, we formed relationships with local harvesters and farmers. There is a lot of debate and speculation around which sea moss is better. I’m not here to tell you, but let’s weigh it out.

Besides the obvious variation in color, purple and gold sea moss also have variations in benefits. Every fruit and vegetable naturally produces a chemical called phyto-chemicals or phyto-nutrients. Gold

Your Sea Moss

Dry Sea Moss

Dry sea moss doesn’t like moisture and has the tendency to mold if it’s kept in a damp or moist area for too long. It’s best to store sea moss in a cool ( room temperature ) dry area, like a pantry or cabinet. DO NOT STORE IT IN THE REFRIGERATOR unless you’ve turned it into sea moss gel.

Your sea moss will arrive in a large, lightweight, breathable polypropylene bag that you can tie off when you’re not using. This is perfect for long term storage in the conditions listed above.

Sea Moss Powder

Your sea moss powder will arrive in an air tight, zip-able pouch which is perfect for storage. DO NOT STORE IT IN THE REFRIGERATOR because it has the tendency to clump when introduced to moisture. The best place to store sea moss powder is in an air tight container, and in a cool, dry place like in a pantry or cabinet.

* Storage tip: If your sea moss powder is sitting unused for a while, make sure to shake it around and agitate it a little so it doesn’t clump up. Our products are 100% natural, and no additives, or anti- clumping agents are added to our products.

Shelf Life

The average shelf life of sea moss and sea moss powder is 2 years. Although in my experience, if the sea moss and sea moss powder are stored properly, you could get up to an extra year out of the shelf life.
